About Robbinsville, NJ

Robbinsville Township is a township located in Mercer County, New Jersey. Although a part of the Census Bureau-defined New York metropolitan area, Robbinsville in fact borders the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Named for George R. Robbins, a long-time resident who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1855 to 1859, present-day Robbinsville was originally incorporated in 1859 as Washington Township (named for President George Washington) from portions of East Windsor Township. The township adopted its present name following a referendum in 2007. Robbinsville achieved recent fame for having its Little League softball program reach the Little League Softball World Series four out of the seven years between 2008 and 2015, with the team winning the championship in 2014.

Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Robbinsville, NJ

FAQ: I’m having trouble finding work or housing after completing my sentence due to my criminal record. Is there anything I can do?

A criminal conviction can bar you from many employment and housing opportunities — unfortunately, many people simply do not want to hire or rent to someone who has been convicted of a crime, especially a serious crime. This can make it difficult to lead a reformed, law-abiding life. Fortunately, for certain criminal offenses you may be entitled to seek expungement of your criminal record. An expungement means that your criminal records are no longer publicly accessible through a background check or other means.

FAQ: What is the difference between a disorderly persons offense and an indictable offense?

In New Jersey, a disorderly persons offense (commonly known as a misdemeanor in other states) refers to less-serious criminal offenses; a conviction for a disorderly persons offense results in jail sentences of 18 months or less or a term of probation; in addition to fines. An indictable offense (commonly known as a felony in other states) is a more serious crime, such as assault, burglary, rape, or murder that usually results in a prison sentence of at least 18 months in addition to possible hefty fines.
