About Medford, NJ

Medford is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. Medford was incorporated in 1847 from portions of Evesham Township. Present-day Medford was initially settled in the late 1600s ast Upper Evesham. Medford got its present name from a developer who had recently come from Medford, Massachusetts. Early industry in Medford was focused on glassmaking, which continued into the early 20th century. Although the township’s industrial focus ended by the 1920s, the community continued to grow due to its proximity to Camden, NJ and Philadelphia, PA, as families sought to move to a more rural community.
