Having aggressive, skilled legal representation in your corner when facing criminal charges can make all the difference in the outcome of your case. The Pennington criminal defense attorneys of Davis Law Firm will leave no stone unturned in preparing a strong, effective legal defense strategy for your criminal charges. We pursue every available option in trying to get your charges reduced or outright dismissed. We constantly challenge the state’s case and evidence, moving to exclude or suppress evidence that is unreliable, not relevant, or obtained through unlawful searches and seizures by law enforcement. We can also test the sufficiency of the state’s case to support the charges against you.
We can also explore alternative options to trial in your case. For example, we can help you apply to one of New Jersey’s diversionary programs, if eligible, which can result in the dismissal of your charges with no record of conviction. Where appropriate, we can also aggressively negotiate for a favorable plea agreement that will allow you to put your charges behind you and get back to your normal life as quickly as possible. Of course, we are also ready and willing to advocate on your behalf in court and at trial to argue for a not guilty verdict.

About Pennington, NJ
Pennington is a borough located in Mercer County, New Jersey. Pennington was originally called Queenstown, in honor of Queen Anne. The borough got its present name as a derivation of “Pennytown”, which was an insult used to mark the community’s small size and relative insignificance. The present-day name also derived from Edward Pennington, the Surveyor-General of Pennsylvania whose father-in-law had served as governor of the Province of West Jersey. Pennington was formally established in 1890 from portions of Hopewell Township. A close-knit community, Pennington hosts numerous parades and events to mark annual holidays such as Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Christmas.
Frequently Asked Questions about Criminal Defense in Pennington, NJ
Probation is a criminal sentence that is imposed following a criminal conviction, while parole is a program in which an offender is released from prison for the remaining duration of his or her sentence. However, both programs are largely similar. Offenders are required to abide by the conditions of their probation or parole, including reporting to a probation/parole officer. Violating any of the conditions of probation or parole can lead to consequences ranging from the imposition of more strict conditions of probation/parole to requiring the offender to report to jail or prison to serve out the remainder of his or her sentence.
Not necessarily. Once a person reports a crime, prosecution of that crime is largely out of his or her hands. When a complaining witness’s testimony is the only or strongest evidence of guilt the prosecution has, the witness’s refusal to testify may convince the prosecution to drop the case. However, the prosecution may decide to proceed even without a complainant’s testimony if the state has other evidence of the defendant’s guilt. And for domestic violence and sex crimes, the prosecution is usually prohibited from dismissing the case even if the victim declines to cooperate or testify or wants the charges dropped.
